U.S. Patients Face Barriers to Cancer Care

January 12th, 2012 | Author: | Category: health news

A study finds that people newly diagnosed with cancer are having a hard time getting an appointment with an oncologist, and navigating the cancer care journey in general. This is disappointing and the American Cancer Society has provided information on their website to help newly diagnosed patients understand what needs to be done after the diagnosis and what to expect at their first oncology appt. The reason that most people were denied these appointments were because they did not have the proper medical records or radiology films required for that visit or they did not have proper referrals for their medical insurance. Being diagnosed with cancer is hard enough, getting the proper treatment shouldn’t have to be, so educate yourself by using helpful tools from groups such as the American Cancer Society to make your journey easier. If you believe you, or someone you know, has been misdiagnosed with cancer, please contact our office to discuss your possible claim.
