According to a recent report in the Newark Star Ledger, New Jersey Hospitals are among the most expensive in the country, with the Meadowlands Hospital Complex in Secaucus claiming the top spot as the most expensive in the country. For every $100 in Medicare spending, NJ hospitals charge patients $583, and the Meadowlands Hospital charges $1,192. Hospital charges are inflated, with insurers paying only a fraction of the amount shown on the bill. That said, patients in New Jersey are potentially liable for much higher bills than in other states.
