Research shows that smoking kills….its estimated that every cigarette smoked cuts off at least five minutes of life on average. The numbers also indicate that family members of smokers are at higher risk of getting cancer.
Dr. Lynne Brannen, University Hospital, “Second hand smoke is certainly a risk factor for lung cancer, its definitely smaller than smoking yourself.”
Dr. Brannen and his team with University Hospitals, Augusta Lung Associates, are providing lung screenings to help determine if people are at risk of developing lung cancer, “recently they did a national trial which did conclude that ct screening does reduce mortality. significantly about a 20 percent reduction in mortality.”
